EMERGING CONCEPTS Edition
May 5 - July 5, 2021
The call is international. Submission is free.
Call for Submissions 2021:
The call is primarily open for curators, art historians, and artists interested in curatorial and interdisciplinary research centered on the relationship between the arts and social realities. Individual, collaborative or editorial projects are eligible.
With this call, we want to invite projects that explore how art can involve people and communities in dialogue and rethinking the social and political reality that concerns them. Therefore, we encourage projects that have art-based and/or theoretical-practical methodology in researching issues of relevance for different communities. Special emphasis is put on the research process which should be driven by direct observation of the concerns and challenges those communities face. By mobilizing the capacities and potentials of art and culture in addressing socially relevant topics including, but not limited to human rights, environmental issues, migration and refugees, the new normal, digitalization, and creative industries, the project should strive to achieve broad social impact.
On the emerging concepts edition:
EMERGING CONCEPTS is a new publishing edition by PrivatePrint focused on interpretations and approaches of pressing social, cultural, and political topics from a cultural or art standpoint. This edition supports theory-in-practice, critical and interdisciplinary projects, using visual, graphic, documentary, or textual materials. Regardless of the media of expression, the submitted proposals should apply an experimental approach to the topics in the open call. This edition aims to blur the boundaries between the theory and the practice in order to exchange and produce knowledge, to create new relationships between different disciplines and bodies of knowledge. This edition does not support fiction (novels, short stories, poetry) and purely academic research projects.
The edition is being developed through periodical open calls.
