Programs

PrivatePrint has generated four core programs through which it develops activities.

Publishing:

PrivatePrint’s publishing program is dedicated to supporting interdisciplinary artistic research and critical discourses in contemporary art and culture. The program understands comprehensive editorial work, from project selection and close collaboration with artists, researchers, writers, and cultural workers to conceptual development, graphic design, printing, promotion, and distribution.

Our publishing program supports diverse cultural projects, spanning contemporary art, activism, design, and social issues, all approached through an interdisciplinary angle. The publishing program develops through editions like Emerging Concepts Edition, developed through thematic open calls that address pressing social topics such as activism, politics, and identity or Future Perspectives Edition, dedicated to interdisciplinary experiments in the field of visual arts and design, as well as individual projects that, encouraging innovative artistic discourse and new perspectives.

Exhibitions:

Through our curatorial programs and activities—hosted in our dynamic studio space in Skopje as well as in renowned institutions and exhibition venues both locally and internationally—we encourage active engagement within the independent cultural scene. Our mission is to raise awareness of emerging practices, media, and forms of expression in contemporary art. Our practice is rooted in collaboration and interdisciplinary exploration, encompassing exhibitions, presentations, multimedia events, workshops, lectures, and other initiatives that reflect our commitment to contemporary artistic expressions, community-based practices, and cultural dialogues.

Art and Culture Residence:

Our residency program creates a diverse international platform based on cooperation and shared interests. It serves as a nucleus for exchange and transformation, where residents connect with PrivatePrint's work as well as the local culture and communities, sharing experiences and incorporating these exchanges into their practice. Collaboration within the program opens space to explore pressing social issues, broaden perspectives, and contribute to meaningful social change. The program establishes long-lasting connections and promotes international cooperation, generating new future projects that come out of the residency experiences. It targets a wide range of participants, including artists, cultural practitioners, researchers, activists, curators, and art historians.

PrivatePrint Studio offers a multifunctional working space with an office, exhibition/project areas, and co-working facilities. The studio, equipped for events and presentations, includes nearly 50 m² indoors and a 90 m² terrace. Additionally, we have available an apartment for the resident, with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room, and small working area, fully accessible with a lift and ramps. Residents benefit from our extensive mentoring, curatorial, and organizational support.

Within this program, we develop a specific program called Circles of Temporary Merging - PrivatePrint Residency for Collaborative Art Practice, supported by Goethe-Institut Skopje, open to artists and cultural workers from Germany.

VR Studio:

PrivatePrint - VR Studio is a collaborative program for curating and designing virtual exhibitions. The program started with the idea of the architect and 3D designer Borko Hadjievski, one of the founders of PrivatePrint Studio and our long-time collaborator, who created the virtual version of our studio. The PrivatePrint - VR studio team curates, models, and designs an exhibition placed entirely in a virtual space on a given artistic proposal. VR Studio 2021-2024 is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture of North Macedonia, and from 2021 to 2023, it was made possible through our activities in the PrivatePrint Meets series funded by the Prince Claus Network Partnership Programme.
